California Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

2018-19 PFT passwords deactivated and 2019-20 PFT Coordinator Designation form becomes available for submission.

2019-20 Coordinator Designation Form becomes available on the California PFT Web site at http://www.pftdata.org. 2018-19 passwords are deactivated.

Final PFT student scored data file is available from the California PFT Web site secure District Portal at http://www.pftdata.org/. This file includes all data submissions and corrections made through August 30, 2021.

PFT Annual Public Release. Exact date to be determined.

Final PFT school, district, county, and state summary reports available from the California PFT Web site secure District Portal at http://www.pftdata.org/ and from the California Department of Education (CDE) DataQuest Web page at http://dq.cde.ca.gov/dataquest/. Exact date to be determined.

2019-20 PFT Coordinator Designation Forms due.

Suggested activities for January:

Conduct meetings or trainings to prepare site administrators, physical education leads, and teachers in the proper administration of the PFT to all students in grades five, seven, and nine.

Ensure data collection forms are ready and distributed to the schools.

Download and distribute resources that help to communicate about the PFT (e.g., PowerPoint, parent/guardian brochures, newsletter insert). Resources are available at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/pf/overview.asp.

Note: Later testing dates may allow for conducting these activities later in the year.

PFT data will not be submitted in the 2019-2020 school year.  Data will be submitted in 2020-2021.

PFT administration window will not open for the 2019-2020 school year. LEAs will still begin administering the PFT and collecting data, but no data will be submitted.

The California PFT Web site secure District Portal at http://www.pftdata.org/ will not open for PFT data submissions in the 2019-2020 school year. 

Suggested activities for March:

Check for updated PFT resources on the CDE PFT Program Resources Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/pf/pftresources.asp and on the California PFT Resources Web page at http://www.pftdata.org/resources.aspx.

LEAs are still required to administer the PFT in years that no data is submitted.

In years that PFT data is collected, the PFT administration window closes the last business day of May.

Suggested activities for June:

In years that PFT data is submitted, review submitted data and make corrections to any remaining errors and warnings.

Schedule a debrief meeting with site administrators and physical education leads to determine areas for future improvements in the administration of the PFT.

In years that PFT data is submitted, California PFT Web site secure District Portal at http://www.pftdata.org/ closes for PFT data submissions and corrections. Data correction is temporarily unavailable until the second and final data correction window opens early July.

In years when PFT data is collected, preliminary PFT student scored data file is available from the California PFT Web site secure District Portal at http://www.pftdata.org/.

In years when PFT data is collected, second and final PFT data correction window opens and continues through August 31.

In years when PFT data is submitted, PFT data correction and preview windows close.
